AGT AGM 4-6 September

This is being held in North Yorkshire.

The weekend will be centred on Wensleydale and the picturesque of Richmond. All visits are to privately-owned and run historic estates including:

  • The picturesque landscape of Temple Grounds, Richmond or a tour of Richmond’s Georgian theatre with early stage scenery and Millgate House plantsman’s garden
  • Aske Hall to view the landscape surveyed by Capability Brown in 1769 and its William Kent temple
  • Constable Burton, a grade I listed house built 1762-67 by John Carr of York still owned by the Wyvill family for whom it was built
  • Bolton Castle, for lunch in the Great Hall and view of the historically-informed re-created gardens
  • Bolton Hall, including guided walks around the surviving late 17th century gardens

In addition the programme includes:

  • a talk by Louise Wickham, on the designed landscapes in the North Riding
  • the New Research Symposium, chaired by Patrick Eyres
  • the Conference reception and dinner at The Station, Richmond’s former Victorian railway station
