St Mary's, Lastingham
Description
Johanna says “We are excited to welcome you to our garden which is situated on the edge of the village with nice views to Lastingham Church and is surrounded by mature trees and shrubs. We work with nature by gardening organically, with a no dig approach and companion planting, hence we do not fight nature. During the lockdowns we have been very busy and created new areas and redesigned our productive plot. There are so many things to say about our garden, so do come and see for yourselves.”
In addition, St Mary’s House was once the holiday and retirement home of Professor Sydney Ringer, 1835-1910, the physician best known for inventing Ringer’s solution, which led to the introduction of the saline drip in medicine. After, there should be the opportunity to visit nearby historic Lastingham Church, with its unique apsidal Norman crypt.
