Description

Valley Gardens is a beautiful English Heritage Registered Grade II public park in Harrogate, covering 17 acres of formal gardens, leisure activities and woodland. It is built on a volcanic fault where 36 natural springs percolate to the surface in an area once known as Bogs Field. It was the mineral water from these springs on which Harrogate’s posterity and reputation as a ‘spa’ town was built from the eighteenth century. The Valley Gardens Pleasure Grounds opened in 1887 in celebration of Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee.
