Description

Burnby Hall Gardens have been called “a jewel in Yorkshire’s crown” and visitors usually come to see the National Collection of Hardy Water Lilies which bloom on the Upper and Lower Lakes. On our Study Day, we focussed on the history of the gardens which were created by Percy and Katherine Stewart in the early twentieth century, the Backhouse Rock Garden they had built and its recent restoration.

Following three morning lectures and lunch, we explored the gardens in small groups led by members of the Burnby Hall Gardens team.
