Late C 17 formal gardens and pleasure grounds.

Huddersfield's first public park, laid out in 1882 by the Borough Surveyor R S Rugdale.

Burmantofts or Beckett Street Cemetery, established in 1845, was one of the earliest publicly funded cemeteries in England.

Bedale Park retains many of the landscape features from the work carried out in the late 18th and 19th centuries by the Pierse family. However the formal garden created by Henry Pierse I in the 1730s and shown on a map of circa 1772, was removed about 1783-4 to make way for a lawn and the start of a more informal style.

A small compact landscaped park laid out in the mid 18th century next to Bessingby Hall and little altered.

Medieval deer park (associated with a manor house belonging to the Archbishops of York) with substantial remains of park boundary. The deer park later became the parkland setting of a private house, High Hall, which was rebuilt in the late 19th century when notable Victorian landscape architect William Brodrick Thomas was employed to lay out the grounds.

The designed landscape developed alongside the building of a new Bishop’s Palace in Ripon in the 1830s is largely the work of Charles Thomas Longley, Bishop of Ripon from 1836 to 1856. Around the new residence for the bishops an area of parkland was laid out, as well shelter belts and pleasure gardens and a walled kitchen garden was developed.

Bolton Hall was built by 1678 and its associated gardens and parkland had been established by 1723. The designed landscape was modified in the style of Brown in the late 18th century.
